Affordability Calculator Widget
The Affordability Calculator Widget helps buyers estimate their monthly payment for any purchase price. Embed it on a listings page, a buyer resources page, or inline next to a specific property.
How the calculation works
The visitor inputs four values:
- Purchase price - the property sale price in dollars.
- Down payment - dollar amount or percentage of purchase price.
- Interest rate - annual interest rate as a percentage.
- Loan term - 10, 15, 20, or 30 years.
The widget computes the standard fixed-rate monthly payment using the principal and interest formula, then adds estimated property tax and homeowner insurance figures based on the purchase price.
Output breakdown
The result panel shows the total estimated monthly payment broken into four line items:
- Principal and interest
- Estimated property tax
- Estimated homeowner insurance
- HOA (optional - visitor can enter a custom amount)
Note
Tax and insurance estimates are approximations based on national averages. They are not a substitute for a formal lender quote.Embedding alongside a listings grid
A common placement pattern is to embed the calculator below or beside a Listings Grid widget on a buyer landing page. Visitors can browse active properties and check affordability without leaving the page.
